How to Talk to a Friend who is Making Negative Life Choices| Transformed4More.com

In the last post, I discussed three signs that a friend may be going down a destructive path or is making negative life choices.

To follow that up, I wanted to discuss a caring way you can talk to your friend to try and figure out what is going on.

True friends look out for each other. One of the best things you can do is talk to them about what you see happening and that you are genuinely worried about them.


A Foundational Bible Verse

Matthew 18:15-17 provides the way to keep one another accountable. This verse is more applicable in church discipline, but can work in almost any situation. Below is the verse, then I will break it down.

If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.”

“Sarah, I was at the football game tonight and Robin was with Kara and her group of friends the whole time.” I considered what Susan had just said, and I knew it wasn’t a good sign.

Robin was a good friend of ours and Kara was not a positive influence on Robin. The more they hung out, the more rebellious Robin became. I knew it was not going to be a recipe for Robin’s success.

As you get into your teenage years, some of your friends will start making decisions that will bring negative consequences into their lives. No one wants this for someone they care about and in today’s post, I want to share three signs that your friend may be headed down a destructive path.

Emily sat on the couch and scrolled through her pictures. Before she knew it, she was back almost two years. She kept seeing pictures of her and her best friend Amanda.

The more Emily scrolled, the more she realized how her friendship with Amanda had changed; they used to have so much fun together, but lately, Amanda was not the same.

Friendships are a necessary part of life. However, as we grow and change, friendships naturally do the same thing, and, sometimes, it comes to the point it is wise to leave the friendship.

There are a slew of reasons this happens, so I won’t attempt to get into it, but in today’s post I want to share with you how to respectfully leave a toxic friendship.
