Three Truths I Learned About Unforgiveness as a Teenager

Have you ever harbored unforgiveness against someone? Did you think it was no big deal? Are you currently withholding forgiveness from someone?

Unfortunately, as a teenager, I held on to my bitterness and refused to forgive two people who I thought wronged me. Through this process I went through as a teen, I truly learned WHY forgiveness is important and what unforgiveness can do to a person.

Julie had recently become engaged. She was standing in the check out line beaming at her items. She picked up every bridal magazine the store offered as well as a wedding planner. As she stood, she daydreamed of dress shopping with her best friends and everything else that comes along with wedding planning.

Four Reasons to Refrain from Living Together Before Marriage

“They’re ready to move from dating to cohabitating…” the Best Buy commercial blared as I looked through a website. Slightly taken aback, I scrolled to the top of the page to see the rest of the advertisement.

The commercial showcased a couple phone shopping at Best Buy; they were getting new ones because they were merging their individual phone plans due to the fact they were taking “the next step in their relationship” and moving in together.

Living together with someone you are in a romantic relationship with is called cohabitating and it’s been gaining popularity for many years. Despite this “trial run” at marriage, divorce rates among cohabitators are higher than those who did not live together prior to marriage.

In today’s blog, we’ll discuss four reasons it’s best to refrain from following this pattern.

Kelly sat with her eyes focused on the wall. She was talking with her older cousin, Annie, about a new crush. He was a junior, a year older than her, and she had gotten caught by her mom sending him “bra and panty” pics. Annie listened to Kelly’s story and asked her to give a “run down” of the relationship.

In short, he went to a different local school, and she met him through social media. They started talking through direct messaging and met up with each other at a few basketball games. After a month or so, he asked her for the pictures and she sent them.

Towards the end of the conversation, Kelly stated, “I hope we can go out on an actual date one day.”

Flabbergasted, Annie questioned, “Wait, you’re not even in a ‘real’ relationship with this guy and you sent him half naked pictures?” Annie replied yes with alarming confidence and stated that many of the other girls she knew were doing the same.
